Benefits of salt chlorination

Salt’s chemical name, as you may remember from chemistry class, is sodium chloride (NaCl). When we talk about salt chlorination, we are talking about using the chlorine in salt, instead of buying chlorine tablets. The chlorine is derived from salt by a process called electrolysis.

Using a salt chlorinator in your pool, such as Quicksalt, has multiple benefits:

  1. In this disinfecting process, a low proportion of salt is added to the pool, close to what we can find in tears in our eyes. That is why our skin, hair and eyes will appreciate this system and will not feel any harshness like traditional chlorine often produces.
  2. In saline electrolysis, the formation of chloramines is greatly reduced. Chlorimines are, to a great extent, the strong smell of chlorine and irritations to eyes and mucous membranes.
  3. Salt chlorination is more environmentally friendly. Salt chlorination only uses salt and electricity, whereas industrialized chlorine production and use can have a greater environmental impact.
  4. The long life of the salt chlorinator cell leads to substantial savings in pool maintenance.
  5. More convenience, as you can forget about constantly buying different chemical products to disinfect your pool. With the salt chlorinator you will only have to control the salt you need.
  6. And the best thing is that all the above advantages will come with the Quicksalt’s low energy consumption, where its energy consumption is equivalent to that of a light bulb. Therefore, the electricity bill at the end of the month will not look much higher than usual.

With all these advantages, it is no wonder that salt chlorination is growing fast.
